Kids will be kids, and to them water is fun

We all know what it’s like to feel hot on a sunny day desperate to cool down. We also know that as kids it’s easy to jump in the river, the sea, a lake or a areservoir. Every year, every sunny day there are hundreds of calls made to our emergency services because somebody has got into difficulty on one of our blue space. Accessible education on how to comfortably carefully use these spaces is lacking in all walks of life from school to the workplac. So that’s where we come in. You want to know that your child is your child safe when they go out with their friends on a hot sunny. Do they know how to read the water? Here at the Sea we See we have spent our life in, on and under water and we want to share our knowledge with you.

Starting from Friday Friday the 10th of July we will be putting on weekly parent and child swimming sessions. These will be in the sea at Roker out of the yacht club, our aim is to make children confident outdoor swimmers and parents confident in their children in that blue space we will go through water safety beach safety river and Lake safety what to see what to look for what you can’t see and why today is not a good day to swim.

In this one hour session, we will have a little chat about the conditions on the day, what we need to look at, and check for and understand the reasons why. Then we will go get ready to go for a swim, our apres swim routine is, dry, dress and then gather for a warm drink and a sweet treat. We will spend no more than 30 minutes in the water, during which time your responses to the temperature, the weather conditions and your physiological reactions will be monitored and the swim duration tailored to suit.

Come and join our qualified open water lead that has 23 years experience in the blue spaces and also holds: paddle sports safety and rescue, paddle sports instructor, rescue boat Coxson, emergency outdoor first aid and level two swimming teaching qualifications with up to date safeguarding and DBS.
